By joining our Engineering Support Branch as a Transportation Engineering Technologist Ill in Kenton County, you'll have the opportunity to complete a variety of complex technical engineering projects including plans, proposals, specifications, and addenda.

Requirements

  • Must possess a valid driver's license prior to employment in this job classification.
  • Must maintain any required licensure(s), certification(s), or other credentials for the length of employment in this job classification.

Responsibilities

  • Reviews completed work of contractors.
  • Performs inspections of various maintenance contract activities such as guardrail, panel signs, pavement striping, mowing, traffic signals, roadway lighting, and encroachment permits.
  • Develops and maintains project documentation.
  • Estimates project cost.
  • Prepares technical reports.
  • Provides cost estimates for maintenance projects, check final bills and estimates.
  • Reviews construction or design documentation for technical accuracy.
  • Collects, analyzes, and evaluates planning data used in mapping, Highway Performance Monitoring System, Highway Performance Monitoring System, adequacy ratings, traffic forecasts, rail and highway crossings and project planning activities.
  • Provides data for traffic counts, delay and speed studies, crashes, mowing acreages, panel sign dimensions, and other needed data.
  • Organizes and conducts meetings in the planning, design, construction and maintenance of projects.
  • Acts as departmental liaison between contractor and, or, governmental agencies investigating multilateral disputes or complaints.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
