As a premier, employee-owned consulting engineering firm in Illinois, we are seeking a visionary and entrepreneurial leader to serve as the Transportation Engineering Manager for our Springfield office. This is a key leadership role for a seasoned civil engineering professional ready to assume strategic, financial, and operational leadership of our transportation practice in Central Illinois. The Manager will be responsible for driving growth and technical excellence across transportation and civil projects, serving cornerstone clients including the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) District 6 and Central Bureau, as well as surrounding counties and municipalities. Beyond project delivery, this role requires a leader who can translate strategic vision into operational reality, mentoring a multi-disciplinary team and solidifying HLR's presence as a trusted advisor in the region. On Any Given Day, You'll: Implement the company vision of growing, expanding, and leading our well-established Springfield office. Supervise design team, engineering staff, and administrative staff. Serve as Project Manager on designated Transportation, Civil and Water projects. Coordinate project status, and progress with client and regulatory agencies. Mentor and motivate professional staff according to our company culture. Maintain project schedules, quality, budgets, and client satisfaction. Demonstrate creativity, foresight, and mature engineering judgement, and successfully manage multiple projects. Maintain and expand our client relationships with the help of managers throughout Illinois. Identify areas of growth and strategize the development of new business. Lead transportation, and business development efforts, participate in proposal presentation.
