About The Position

The Mannik & Smith Group (MSG) is seeking a Transportation Engineer to join their Mansfield, OH team. This role is ideal for an early- to mid-level engineer looking to work on diverse roadway and aviation projects. The engineer will support senior professionals, learn new skills, and build a career in transportation engineering. MSG is a people-focused, award-winning consulting firm offering a wide range of services including civil and geotechnical engineering, environmental consulting, planning, landscape architecture, agriculture, surveying, and construction support. They have offices throughout Ohio, Indiana, Michigan, West Virginia, and Alabama.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field
• 3+ years of relevant engineering experience
• Successful completion of the NCEES Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) Exam
• Experience working with OpenRoads Designer
• Familiarity with ODOT Design Standards
• A strong attention to detail, problem-solving mindset, and eagerness to grow technical and project management skills

Responsibilities

• Support senior engineers and project managers in preparing transportation design plans for state, municipal, commercial, industrial, and residential projects within a 3D digital environment.
• Perform and review design calculations, ensuring accuracy and compliance with applicable standards.
• Contribute to the development of design packages, including roadway geometry, drainage, grading, and plan preparation.
• Assist with early project phases, including feasibility studies, permitting, and cost estimating.
• Support aviation projects, contributing to runway and airfield design and analysis.
