About The Position

The Mannik & Smith Group (MSG) is seeking a Transportation Engineer to join their Mansfield, OH team. This role is ideal for an early- to mid-level engineer looking to work on diverse roadway and aviation projects. The engineer will support senior staff in designing, analyzing, and developing transportation infrastructure, contributing to projects that improve community mobility and connectivity. The position involves working within a 3D digital environment and collaborating on various project phases from feasibility studies to final design.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field
3+ years of relevant engineering experience
Successful completion of the NCEES Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) Exam
Experience working with OpenRoads Designer
Familiarity with ODOT Design Standards
A strong attention to detail, problem-solving mindset, and eagerness to grow your technical and project management skills

Responsibilities

Support senior engineers and project managers in preparing transportation design plans for state, municipal, commercial, industrial, and residential projects — all within a 3D digital environment.
Perform and review design calculations, ensuring accuracy and compliance with applicable standards.
Contribute to the development of design packages, including roadway geometry, drainage, grading, and plan preparation.
Assist with early project phases, including feasibility studies, permitting, and cost estimating.
Support aviation projects, contributing to runway and airfield design and analysis.
