About The Position

The Mannik & Smith Group (MSG) is seeking a Transportation Engineer to join their Mansfield, OH team. This role is ideal for an early- to mid-level engineer looking to work on diverse roadway and aviation projects. The engineer will learn from experienced professionals and build a career in transportation engineering. MSG is a people-focused, award-winning, full-service consulting firm offering services in civil and geotechnical engineering, environmental consulting, planning, landscape architecture, agriculture, surveying, and construction support across multiple states.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field
• 3+ years of relevant engineering experience
• Successful completion of the NCEES Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) Exam
• Experience working with OpenRoads Designer
• Familiarity with ODOT Design Standards
• A strong attention to detail, problem-solving mindset, and eagerness to grow technical and project management skills

Responsibilities

• Support senior engineers and project managers in preparing transportation design plans for state, municipal, commercial, industrial, and residential projects within a 3D digital environment.
• Perform and review design calculations, ensuring accuracy and compliance with applicable standards.
• Contribute to the development of design packages, including roadway geometry, drainage, grading, and plan preparation.
• Assist with early project phases, including feasibility studies, permitting, and cost estimating.
• Support aviation projects, contributing to runway and airfield design and analysis.
