About The Position

The State of Ohio is seeking a Transportation Engineer 3 for Construction in District 6. This position is part of a drug-free workplace and requires candidates to be authorized to work in the United States, with no employment visa sponsorship available. New hires will serve a one-year probationary period, and the position is overtime exempt based on FLSA Standards. It is designated as a Career Professional position. The role involves administering various construction projects, including paving, bridge work, and major interchange enhancements. The engineer will be responsible for solving problems and resolving issues to ensure projects meet ODOT’s high standards and will oversee a team to achieve high-quality projects built on time for the traveling public.

Requirements

  • Licensed as registered professional engineer by Ohio State Board of Registration for Professional Engineers & Surveyors
  • 12 mos. exp. as group or project leader providing work direction & training to engineering technicians &/or lower-level engineers OR 12 mos. exp. in conducting engineering related research (i.e., conducting engineering related research only applies to staff specialist positions)
  • If assigned to operate a state vehicle to travel to & inspect project sites, must possess valid driver’s license
  • OR licensed as registered professional engineer by Ohio State Board of Registration for Professional Engineers & Surveyors; 12 mos. exp. as Transportation Engineer 2, 85642; if assigned to operate a state vehicle to travel to & inspect project sites, must possess valid driver’s license
