About The Position

Under general supervision, the selected applicant performs full-performance level public contact work involving the processing, recording, and issuance of drivers’ license, vehicle registration, vehicle titles, and related documents in a Division of Motor Vehicles (DMV) regional office. Work involves knowledge, interpretation, and the application of motor vehicle laws, policies, and procedures. Other duties as required. Pay Grade 10

Requirements

• Graduation from standard high school or the equivalent.
• One year of full time or equivalent part time paid experience in bookkeeping, cashiering, or related public contact work.
• A valid driver's license is required and must be maintained.
• All applicants must consent to fingerprinting and a criminal background investigation.

Nice To Haves

• College credit from an accredited college or university, business school, or vocational training may be substituted through an established formula for the required experience.

Responsibilities

• Answers inquiries from customers in person in a DMV regional office regarding motor vehicle laws, policies, and procedures.
• Assist customers in the processing of driver licenses, identification cards, motor vehicle license and registrations and title work.
• Explains forms and fees associated with the processing.
• Reviews documentation to ensure information is complete and accurate.
• Will be trained and required to administer various types of knowledge/skills tests for driver’s license issuance.
• Enters data into the computer to access previous data and update new file information as appropriate.
• Assesses fees and processes cashier transactions balances cash drawer at the end of business day.
• Mails forms per customer requests and/or inquiries, composing correspondence to explain documents.
• Responsible for issuing and maintaining assigned inventory items.
