About The Position

Under general supervision, the selected applicant performs full-performance level public contact work involving the processing, recording, and issuance of drivers’ license, vehicle registration, vehicle titles, and related documents. Work involves knowledge, interpretation, and the application of motor vehicle laws, policies, and procedures. Other duties as required. Pay Grade 10

Requirements

• Graduation from standard high school or the equivalent.
• One year of full time or equivalent part time paid experience in bookkeeping, cashiering, or related public contact work.
• College credit from an accredited college or university, business school, or vocational training may be substituted through an established formula for the required experience.
• A valid driver's license is required and must be maintained.
• All applicants must consent to fingerprinting and a criminal background investigation.

Responsibilities

• Answers inquiries from customers in person in a DMV regional office regarding motor vehicle laws, policies, and procedures.
• Assist customers in the processing of driver licenses, identification cards, motor vehicle license and registrations and title work.
• Explains forms and fees associated with the processing.
• Reviews documentation to ensure information is complete and accurate.
• Will be trained and required to administer various types of knowledge/skills tests for driver’s license issuance.
• Enters data into the computer to access previous data and update new file information as appropriate.
• Assesses fees and processes cashier transactions balances cash drawer at the end of business day.
• Mails forms per customer requests and/or inquiries, composing correspondence to explain documents.
• Responsible for issuing and maintaining assigned inventory items.
