Transportation Dispatcher - Overnights

Requirements
- High School Diploma/GED required
- Must have working knowledge of DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations and driver's logs.
- Must be organized and detailed; and have legible handwriting.
- Must be able to manage several things at once.
- Must have (2) years transportation experience
Nice To Haves
- CDL A preferred
Responsibilities
- Coordinating driver activities to resolve service issues.
- Verifying that the customer's needs are met in a prompt and professional manner.
- Notifying the manager/supervisor in charge and the safety specialist ASAP in the case of a vehicle accident or driver injury.
- Coordinating driver activities to minimize hours of service violations.
- Verifying that drivers are using Omnitracs properly.
- Assigning backhauls as needed to be done in the most efficient manner possible.
- Coordinating trailer and tractor assignments.
- Communicating to the sales force and operations management if there are any concerns regarding service issues that may arise in the event of a late dispatch, breakdown, or other service failure.
- Reassigning routes as needed.
- Visually inspecting each driver's appearance to verify that drivers are in proper uniform and have required PPE (Personal Protective Equipment).
- Coordinating shuttle assignments to minimize downtime and overtime.
- Completing Attendance Reports.
- Distributing intercompany mail to sales force.
- Other duties as assigned by management.
