Coordinates and plans the transportation of prisoners and transporting officers within and outside of the state of Florida. This role involves identifying, scheduling, and coordinating prisoner transports, including pickups and deliveries for in-state and out-of-state. The coordinator must also coordinate with other agencies for shared transports, comply with court-ordered deadlines, and consider safety, cost, time, territorial limitations, and medical status when selecting transporting entities. Responsibilities include preparing travel paperwork, researching travel costs, obtaining necessary IDs for air travel, creating travel packets, seeking extradition approvals, managing case files, preparing documents for court testimony, and processing the release of defendants. The role also involves managing extradition and transportation files, processing payments for transportation services, generating reimbursement orders, preparing correspondence, and maintaining inmate transport databases. Making entries, updates, and modifications to FCIC/NCIC records, sending teletype correspondence, and interpreting legal documents are also key duties. Communication with various stakeholders, including judges, courts, law enforcement, correctional facilities, government agencies, vendors, the public, and family members, is essential. The position requires updating warrant files with relevant documentation to prevent wrongful incarcerations.
