About The Position

Key Recovery provides comprehensive substance use disorder treatment and work skills training to help low-income, high-risk patients achieve sustained recovery and rebuild their lives. We offer a unique combination of long-term residential clinical treatment, work skills training, and transitional housing. The Transportation Coordinator is responsible for safely and efficiently transporting patients in facility van or other vehicles according to schedule. This role requires the ability to quickly organize daily transportation needs, work effectively with supervisors, residential and clinical staff, and back-up resources to ensure all transportation needs are met on time. The coordinator will partner with external medical resource staff to provide transportation assistance to patients for medical care at local facilities and other patient-focused support services.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent training.
  • 1-2 years of experience driving multiple-seat or van-type vehicles, transporting individuals around the Seattle area.
  • Current Washington State driver license and be insurable through company insurance.
  • Good knowledge of the Seattle area and ability to navigate traffic safely and efficiently in and around Seattle.
  • Strong organizational skills to efficiently transport patients to appointments and destinations in a timely manner.
  • Effective communication and people skills.
  • Ability to work independently with good problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and work in a demanding environment.
  • Ability to show compassion and empathy.

Nice To Haves

  • Substance Use Disorder experience is preferred.
  • Experience and understanding of substance use disorders and treatment; familiarity with the patient population served preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Drives facility van and other vehicles.
  • Assists in planning and implementing facility van or other vehicle schedules.
  • Promptly reports any concerns regarding safe and proper functioning of van or other vehicles to supervisor.
  • Follows all city and state driving and transportation rules and regulations.
  • Engages and communicates with patients appropriately to address any behavior or communication issues during transportation and communicates patient complaints or concerns to management.
  • Maintains effective communication with supervisor and management team to report any service impacting issues.
  • Keeps records of who attended offsite activity (medical, legal, etc.) and ensures that all are returned to site.
  • Assures interior of van or other vehicles is neat and clean.
  • Serves as a role model for patients by displaying responsible, cooperative, positive attitude, and exhibits good patient boundaries.
  • Represents Key Recovery in a professional, courteous, friendly manner.
  • Communicates respectfully with patients, facility staff and people of all cultures and backgrounds.
  • Coordinates pick-ups and drop-offs for timely, safe, and efficient transportation.
  • Adequately and safely deals with challenging patient behaviors such as defiance and threatening behavior.
  • Works well under pressure, meets multiple and often competing deadlines.
  • Demonstrates cooperative behavior with supervisors, subordinates, colleagues, and patients at all times.
