About The Position

At Oakwood Springs, the Transportation Coordinator plays a crucial role in empowering and supporting a diverse workforce, driving quality, scalability, and significant impact across hospitals and communities. This position is responsible for the safe and timely transportation of patients between various locations and facilities to the Hospital campus or other designated sites. Key duties include maintaining daily logs of mileage and gasoline usage, submitting gas receipts, regularly cleaning the vehicle's interior to ensure it is presentable, and tracking mileage for routine maintenance. The coordinator is also responsible for ensuring patient supervision, maintaining safety, and treating patients with respect and dignity. The role involves coordinating transportation routes and travel for all sites and may encompass additional duties within the transportation department.

Requirements

  • High school degree or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of two (3) years paid or volunteer professional driving experience.
  • Minimum of one (1) year experience in a customer service position.
  • Valid driver’s license and a favorable Motor Vehicle Report (MVR), along with proof of insurance.
  • CPR certification within 30 days of employment and prior to any patient contact.
  • Crisis Prevention Training (CPI) within 30 days of employment and prior to any patient contact.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with chemical dependency, dual diagnosis, psychiatric and geriatric patients preferred.
  • At least one (2) year experience driving 8-12 passenger vans professionally preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate transportation routes for all outpatient sites.
  • Assist with coverage within the transportation department as needed.
  • Identify and coordinate meeting spots for patients and family members.
  • Identify and evaluate routes that create efficiency in the transportation of patients.
  • Ensure the schedule and program is consistently delivered to the expectations of the facility.
  • Safeguard the dignity and respect of our patients and customers.
  • Employs appropriate crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques as required and according to policy and procedure.
  • Shuttles patients to appropriate places that are approved by appropriate supervisor.
  • Protects patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA requirements.
  • Uses only equipment trained to use and operates all equipment in a safe manner.
  • Reports all potential hot spots and safety concerns to supervisor/manager.
  • Reports all accidents and incidents observed on shift to manager immediately.
  • Monitors vehicle condition and records malfunctioning items or damage and submits to manager.
  • Must be able to learn and remember pick-up and destination points.
