About The Position

The Transportation Coordinator at Eaton’s ES AMER ESS division is responsible for administering transportation in the Shipping Department. Daily activities include identifying consolidation opportunities, quoting, scheduling, documentation, and addressing emails from carriers. This role involves organizing and executing the work schedule for outbound shipments, monitoring carriers to ensure safe, efficient, and on-time operations, and assisting in the development and modification of daily schedules. The coordinator will also accurately enter data into the transportation management system, generate reports, track and trace shipments, and coordinate activities with fulfillment teams, customers, and suppliers. Key responsibilities also include confirming pickups, ensuring high service levels, and fielding internal customer service requests related to order changes, routing, and rate-shopping for sales quotations.

Requirements

  • Must have a high school/GED from an accredited institution
  • Must have a minimum of one (1) year logistics, shipping and/or warehouse
  • Ability to effectively communicate with internal customers and external customers/vendors
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Attention to detail and accuracy
  • Time management, multi-tasking and self starter
  • Verbal and written communication skills

Nice To Haves

  • Understanding of carrier capabilities
  • SAP and WMS Experience a plus

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for organizing and executing the work schedule for outbound shipments
  • Proficient in operations planning with a Transportation Management Systems (TMS).
  • Correctly troubleshoot, investigate, resolve, and/or escalate issues with suggested resolution.
  • Monitor carriers (Private Fleet, Dedicated Fleet, and Common Carriers) to ensure daily transportation operations run safely, efficiently, and on time.
  • Assist in the development, planning, and modification of daily schedules as appropriate; make notifications to customer service and the operations manager as to the status of shipments.
  • Accurately enter data into the transportation management system; maintain and generate required reports.
  • Track and trace activities to ensure optimal service.
  • Coordinates activities with fulfillment team, the customer and/or other suppliers as needed.
  • Master of skills in the following areas; Organization, communication, problem resolution, analytics, both tactical and strategic planning, and problem solving.
  • Performs other duties as assigned depending on area supported.
  • Confirm pickups with transportation partners electronically or over the phone
  • Ensuring high service levels on tendered shipments (tracking and monitoring to delivery)
  • Fielding internal customer service requests and inquiries
  • Changes to orders (terms, carrier)
  • Handling and/or routing order-specific requests
  • Rate-shopping non-standard orders for sales quotation/bid purposes
  • Identify qualified potential transportation providers to handle shipments
  • Secure quote and calculate markup
  • Provide quick turnaround to sales to help secure the order
