Transportation Construction Inspector
About The Position
Johnson, Mirmiran & Thompson (JMT), a 100% employee-owned consulting firm providing multidisciplinary engineering, architecture, information technology, and related services, is seeking Transportation Construction Inspectors for its Pittsburgh Construction Management Team. Inspectors will staff PennDOT and Pennsylvania Turnpike assignments. The position includes reviewing construction plans and methods, performing routine material tests, verifying construction dimensions and elevations, maintaining records, and preparing field notes and computations. Immigration sponsorship or support, including H-1B and F-1 CPT/OPT/STEM OPT, is not available, except for qualified candidates eligible for TN visa classification.
Responsibilities
- Review and interpret plans, site layouts, specifications, and construction methods to ensure compliance with legal requirements and safety regulations.
- Perform routine tests on concrete, soils, and other materials.
- Measure dimensions and verify the level, alignment, and elevation of structures, fixtures, grades, and/or pavement to ensure compliance with plans and codes.
- Gather and maintain record documents.
- Make field notes and computations.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
