Quality Engineering Solutions, Inc. (QES) is seeking a Transportation Construction Inspector 2 (TCI-2) to join their team. Requirements

  • One (1) year minimum PennDOT experience as a TCI-1 or higher, and has one (1) of the following three (3) certifications: PennDOT Concrete Technician Certification, NECEPT Field Technician Certification, or NICET Level I Certification or higher in Highway Construction.
  • OR Two (2) years minimum of transportation, highway or bridge construction inspection experience, and has one (1) of the following three (3) certifications: PennDOT Concrete Technician Certification, NECEPT Field Technician Certification, or NICET Level II Certification or higher in Highway Construction.
  • OR Three (3) years minimum transportation, highway or bridge construction inspection experience.
  • OR Four (4) years minimum of highway or bridge construction or highway or bridge design experience and successful completion of the twelve (12) web-based TCI training modules.
  • OR Bachelor’s of Science degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or other approved Engineering discipline; or holds an active Professional Engineer’s License.

Responsibilities

  • Perform technical inspections to ensure contractors build quality construction projects.
  • Monitor and document that roadway, highway, and bridge projects are constructed in accordance with pertinent plans and specifications.
  • Quality assurance monitoring for materials testing, including soils, concrete, aggregates, and bituminous products.
  • Comply with PA Turnpike, PennDOT and/or Client and project-specific overtime requirements.
  • Meet with Clients Project Engineer/Manager/Supervisor or Consultant Manager/Supervisor daily, or as required, to receive instructions and assignments.
  • Complete project documentation requirements: daily progress reports, periodic cost estimates, project work activities including records of labor, material, quantities, and equipment used.
  • Perform periodic highway occupancy permit compliance and erosion and sedimentation controls compliance.
  • Request assistance from Manager/Supervisor for any instruction or assignment in the inspection of materials and workmanship to ensure compliance with contract requirements and established standards.
