About The Position

RK&K is seeking a Transportation Construction Inspector for PennDOT, Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission, and Municipal highway and bridge projects in Philadelphia. The role involves working on various roadway and bridge projects, overseeing contractor quality control, performing quality assurance sampling and testing, and completing daily reports. Effective communication with clients, contractors, and project personnel is essential.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • One (1) year of experience as a PennDOT Technical Assistant
  • Or (2) two years minimum of transportation, highway, or bridge construction inspection experience
  • Or (4) four (4) years minimum of highway or bridge construction, non-highway or bridge inspection, or highway or bridge design experience
  • Or Possess a Transportation Technology Construction Inspection certification received through an accredited Technology program approved by the Department
  • Or Holds a Bachelor of Science degree in a non-Civil Engineering field
  • Or Holds an Associate’s Degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management
  • Or Holds a B.S. degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management
  • Or Holds an active Professional Engineers License (PE)
  • Applicants must have their own vehicle and a valid driver’s license

Nice To Haves

  • NICET Highway Construction Inspection Level 2 (or higher)
  • NECEPT Asphalt/Bituminous Field Testing Technician Certification
  • ACI/PennDOT Concrete Field Testing Technician Certification
  • Experience using PennDOT ECMS v3 and PPCC
  • Experience performing field inspections for roadway and bridge construction projects
  • Ability to use an electronic tablet and computer and Microsoft Office products required
  • Ability to navigate construction sites in different terrain and weather conditions required
  • Ability to work day and/or night shifts, based on the type of operation taking place required
  • Ability to multitask project assignments and to work independently required
  • Ability to obtain a Professional Engineering License

Responsibilities

  • Work on various roadway and bridge projects within the region’s geographic area
  • Oversight of contractor’s quality control operations
  • Quality Assurance sampling and testing
  • Completion of Daily Sampling and Testing Reports
  • Daily Inspection Reports (PSA’s or IDR’s)
  • Daily communication with client, contractor, and field project personnel
