DESCRIPTION OF WORK This role leads inspection activities for highway and bridge construction projects while ensuring adherence to safety, labor, and contract requirements. Requirements
- One year as a Transportation Construction Inspector (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration)
- Two years of construction inspection experience and an associate’s degree in civil engineering, mechanical engineering, geotechnical engineering, surveying engineering technology, or a closely related engineering technology
- An equivalent combination of experience and training
- Possession of a valid non-commercial Pennsylvania Class C Driver’s License or equivalent
- Meet the PA residency requirement
Responsibilities
- Perform on site safety reviews and monitor potential hazards on construction projects
- Review wage rates, classifications, and payrolls to ensure adherence to regulations
- Evaluate plans, specifications, and contractor submissions to ensure project requirements are met
- Direct inspection activities for materials, workmanship, and construction methods
- Prepare reports, record quantities, and support work order and estimate development
- Assign work, review performance, and support training for inspection staff
