Requirements

• One year as a Transportation Construction Inspector (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration)
• Two years of construction inspection experience and an associate’s degree in civil engineering, mechanical engineering, geotechnical engineering, surveying engineering technology, or a closely related engineering technology
• An equivalent combination of experience and training
• Must meet the qualifications for a bridge inspection team leader as defined by the current National Bridge Inspection Standards
• Possession of a valid non- commercial Pennsylvania Class C Driver’s License or equivalent
• Must meet the PA residency requirement
• Must be able to perform essential job functions
• Conditional offer of employment will require submission of criminal history reports

Responsibilities

• Supervise project inspections to ensure work meets codes, plans, and specifications
• Guide and train staff, assign tasks, and review completed work for accuracy
• Coordinate with engineers, contractors, and staff to resolve problems and plan operations
• Make calculations, review sketches, and support solutions to field challenges
• Prepare required reports and maintain project records with accuracy
• Plan training, evaluate performance, and support employee growth and discipline decisions
