About The Position

Now Hiring: Transportation Clerk to join the Associated Grocers Team! We’re looking for a detail-oriented and dependable Transportation Clerk to join our team! In this role, you’ll play a critical part in ensuring accurate, on-time deliveries by supporting communication between retailers, vendors, drivers, and internal teams. You’ll help coordinate schedules, verify routing, and quickly resolve delivery or product-related issues to keep operations running smoothly. This position also provides key administrative and operational support to the Transportation Management team, contributing to the overall efficiency and success of the department.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Valid Louisiana driver’s license and appropriate motor vehicle record required.

Responsibilities

  • Develop a rapport with store personnel, vendors, and AG staff and drivers in support of a positive working environment across operational departments, a variety shifts, and diverse situations.
  • Complete daily and weekly transportation reports as assigned.
  • Complete ad hoc reports as directed.
  • Gather TLW (Trailer Load Worksheet) from dock supervision for processing.
  • Input required information from TLW into Delivery Receipt program and print Delivery Receipts.
  • Facilitate same day and overnight route departures on daily basis.
  • Communicate with warehouse management to correct loading errors or deficiencies.
  • Notify stores of delivery changes or additional scheduled deliveries. Communicate store concerns as they arise for further evaluation.
  • Notify drivers of schedules changes.
  • Communicate with computer room on daily store equipment needs and transport equipment to transportation department for distribution to store.
  • Gather and transport all retail mail from the Campbell Building mail room and transport to the transportation department.
  • Accurately distribute equipment and mail to stores on a nightly basis.
  • Assist dispatch supervisor in preparing assigned work information and store mail for distribution on nightly basis.
  • Communicate with guards and distribute required check sheets daily.
  • Maintain accurate DOT (Department of Transportation) information within the Peoplenet Fleet Manager system.
  • Monitor and report on driver activity utilizing Peoplenet Fleet Manager information with special attention to system alerts concerning driver hours of service (HOS) and equipment failure.
  • Maintain ADI schedule integrity making daily adjustments as changes are announced by routing office.
  • Periodically performs driver dispatch function.
  • Support Associated Grocers stated policies and procedures.
