About The Position

Allen Lund Company is seeking Transportation Brokers to manage incoming and outgoing shipping logistics for cargo transportation carriers and shipping companies. The role involves acquiring and developing customer accounts, building carrier relationships and capacity, negotiating freight rates, coordinating freight brokerage and load bookings, managing shipments in transit, addressing customer issues, and preparing freight-bill documentation. Brokers work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment and uphold company principles centered on the customer, company, and office.

Requirements

• Minimum of 3 years of experience in freight brokerage or customer service.
• Self-motivated, enthusiastic team player able to excel in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong customer service orientation and excellent work ethic.
• Effective negotiation and problem-solving skills, including the ability to handle conflict.
• Excellent time-management skills and ability to multitask.
• Highly organized and detail-oriented.
• Ability to process information quickly, make decisions, and work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent and effective communication skills.

Nice To Haves

• College degree is highly desired, or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

• Contact new customers and acquire customer accounts.
• Develop profitable volume with existing and newly acquired shippers and build relationships with developing accounts.
• Understand customers’ businesses to identify and solve their problems.
• Deliver exceptional customer service and handle customer-related issues and inquiries.
• Contact carriers and build relationships to increase capacity for projects and lanes.
• Maintain current knowledge of market freight rates to determine fair prices for carriers and shippers.
• Offer rates established by Senior Transportation Brokers and management, and negotiate as market demands.
• Recommend solutions for customers to Senior Transportation Brokers and/or management.
• Perform daily check calls on loads in transit.
• Originate documentation for freight bills.
• Handle freight brokerage and book loads.
• Uphold company standards and principles of Customer, Company, Office.
