About The Position

The Transportation Aide provides safe, efficient patient transportation throughout the facility and assists with direct patient care to support patient comfort and continuity of care. The role transports patients to and from departments such as imaging, therapies, admissions, and discharge; assists with mobility and basic care, including turning, repositioning, and feeding; and helps ensure patient safety and dignity. The position also involves maintaining clean transport equipment, communicating with clinical staff, responding promptly to patient care needs, and performing ECGs with appropriate documentation.

Requirements

• High school graduate upon hire, or previous work experience as a Transportation Aide (which may be waived based on operational needs).
• Basic Life Support - CPR certification upon hire.

Responsibilities

• Transport patients safely and efficiently using appropriate equipment, communicating with the nursing unit, hospital department, and patient.
• Verify patient identity and intended transport destination; obtain relevant clinical information from the medical record, including physician-order verification when appropriate.
• Perform ECGs using appropriate technical skills and complete the required documentation.
• Apply infection-control principles in interactions with patients and staff, and properly clean and maintain transport equipment.
• Assist with patient mobility and basic patient care, including turning, repositioning, and feeding.
• Attend department meetings regularly and maintain current knowledge of medical center policies, procedures, and relevant Joint Commission requirements and regulatory changes.
• Request assistance when needed.
