About The Position

This position is responsible for coordinating transports for offenders or detainees, interacting with various agencies, and supervising assigned employees and inmates. The role involves ensuring the security and safety of the facility, managing records, and conducting inspections to comply with federal and state regulations. The incumbent will also model positive social behaviors and maintain accountability for staff, inmates, and property.

Requirements

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be at least 23 years of age.
  • Must have Firearms Certification and Chemical Agents Certification.
  • Valid driver’s license required with a clear MVR for three (3) years.

Nice To Haves

  • CDL license with a Passenger Endorsement (P) preferred but not required.
  • Previous experience preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates with Medical, Security, and Administration.
  • Interacts/communicates with different agencies to schedule and coordinate transports for offenders or detainees.
  • Supervise, protect, instruct, train, counsel and evaluate assigned employees and inmates.
  • Schedule daily transports for the facility; schedule employee’s work and off-duty time.
  • Supervise and direct searches for contraband and provide security.
  • Supervise and provide custody and security of inmates including observation of inmates.
  • Supervise the preparation and maintenance of records, forms and reports.
  • Responsible for the transfer of inmates from one agency to another.
  • Read, review and properly apply information found in inmate records which is related to the inmates’ health and safety and to the security of the facility. Provide appropriate information to other personnel.
  • Promote the development of positive social skills through modeling appropriate behaviors and intervening when inappropriate behaviors are observed.
  • Maintain accountability of staff, inmates and property; adhere to safety practices.
  • Conducts inspections and ensure compliance with Federal and State regulations in accordance with contractual agreements as well Federal, State and FMCSA DOT Regulations.
  • Performs a variety of marginal duties not listed, to be determined and assigned as needed.
