About The Position

Ohio Ambulance Solutions is looking for Transport Attendants to join their Mobility Assistance Department. The role involves providing safe, compassionate, non-emergency transportation to individuals with behavioral health, developmental, cognitive, mobility, or other specialized support needs. This position requires creating a safe, respectful, and positive experience for every passenger, going beyond simple transportation.

Requirements

  • Must be 18 years or older.
  • Must be able to pass a drug screen and FBI/BCI background check.
  • Must be compassionate, patient, professional, and dependable.
  • Must be comfortable working with individuals who may have behavioral, developmental, cognitive, or emotional challenges.
  • Must be able to remain calm and professional in stressful situations.
  • Must be strong communicators and team players.
  • Must be able to use good judgment and make sound decisions.
  • Must be willing and able to complete all required training.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Current CPR certification.
  • Current First Aid certification.
  • EVOC certification.
  • Any required municipal or company certifications.
  • Must be able to physically assist passengers with entering, exiting, and transferring when needed.
  • Must follow HIPAA and Ohio Ambulance Solutions privacy requirements and protect passenger information at all times.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous healthcare or transportation experience is not required.
  • Experience in medical or wheelchair transportation, behavioral health, developmental disabilities, direct care, crisis intervention, de-escalation, or working with special needs populations is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Provide safe transportation and continuous passenger supervision.
  • Assist passengers entering/exiting vehicles and perform hand-to-hand transfers when needed.
  • Treat every passenger with dignity, patience, and respect.
  • Monitor behavior and use approved verbal de-escalation techniques when necessary.
  • Report medical, behavioral, safety, or operational concerns promptly.
  • Communicate with Dispatch, managers, facilities, caregivers, and other team members.
  • Complete transportation documentation and incident reports accurately.
  • Keep vehicles and equipment clean, safe, fueled, and ready for service.
  • Complete required training and competency programs.
  • Support other Ohio Ambulance Solutions service lines as needed.
