About The Position

Oncor proudly recruits veterans of the U.S. Armed Forces. From distribution and transmission operations personnel to technology and other support functions, the knowledge, expertise, and selfless teamwork of veterans prove valuable to our operations that keep the lights on for more than 13 million Texans. The Transmission System Operator Intern will direct and ensure the safe and reliable construction, maintenance and repair of Transmission and Substation equipment. The intern will coordinate with the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) and Transmission Operators to maintain a maximum level of system reliability within the Oncor Transmission and Distribution system and the ERCOT grid.

Requirements

  • MUST BE ACTIVE-DUTY MILITARY, IN THE LAST 180 DAYS OF SERVICE, TO QUALIFY.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and control the Transmission system to ensure a reliable and efficient supply of power to Oncor’s customers.
  • Read, interpret, and understand transmission project plans for accuracy, outage feasibility and safety
  • Respond to outages and alarms for Transmission and Distribution level equipment
  • Coordinate with ERCOT, Neighboring Transmission Operators, Generators and Transmission Field Personnel to maintain system reliability and deliver consistent power in the event of a disruption.
  • Ensure compliance with Oncor safety handbook.
