The Transmission Line Designer 3 will work in a multidisciplinary team with electrical and structural designers and engineers to develop transmission and distribution line drawings and designs. The role is based on a hybrid arrangement from Sargent & Lundy’s future Knoxville office, with three days per week in the office and two days working remotely. The designer will develop transmission line plans and profile drawings, transmission and distribution line hardware details, material lists, and grounding details. The role involves producing scaled master sketches showing proposed installations in relation to existing facilities, with exact specifications and dimensions. The designer will work with engineering staff to interpret engineering specifications, weight and volume calculations, and stress factors. The position may also involve assisting project team members on client-facility walkdowns and explaining drawings to vendors and construction contractors so design adjustments can be made. The role provides an opportunity to apply computer-aided drafting and design skills and receive hands-on training in 3D design software such as AutoCAD 3D and/or MicroStation. Sargent & Lundy may use data, automation, artificial intelligence, and other digital tools to support work; employees are expected to use professional judgment and review when using technology-assisted tools. Sargent & Lundy offers a comprehensive benefits package, including healthcare coverage, paid time off, and other financial and work-life benefits. The stated compensation range is $68,325–$104,385, and eligible employees may also participate in a yearly discretionary bonus.
