About The Position

The translator works as part of the health center care team and assists the clinical team in the provision of primary health care. They will act as a member of the Care Team and work collaboratively with clinical and non-clinical staff to provide for the health and well-being of the patients. Employee will translate as needed in both the clinical and non- clinical areas, and be cross trained to work in the front offices.

Requirements

  • Graduated from an accredited high school or hold a GED.
  • Must work as a care team member to promote quality care and excellence at every patient visit.
  • Sufficient experience to carry out the duties of this position.
  • Ability to relate with warmth and effectiveness to the patients and to the providers of the health center.
  • Must be fluent in both English and Spanish.

Responsibilities

  • Translate as needed in both clinical and non-clinical areas.
  • Ensure privacy and confidentiality when translating for a patient, maintain the dignity of the patient, and ensure the patient understands all communications regarding care.
  • Answer messages and phone calls efficiently and properly document.
  • Work with the front office team to assist with eligibility, registrations and other front office duties as assigned when not translating.
  • Register patients and check them out when their visit is complete.
  • Actively participate in clinic staff meetings and other committees when designated.
  • Notify Practice Manager immediately when problems or incidents occur in the health center.
  • Participate in the Organization’s performance improvement activities and perform duties in accordance with applicable standards.
  • Keep work areas in a clean, safe, and orderly fashion to ensure an appropriate environment for the administration of health care.
