About The Position

The Medical Translator provides written and oral interpreting and translation services between Spanish- and English-speaking patients and staff throughout the facility. The role includes attending sick calls and other clinical appointments with medical providers to assist Spanish-speaking patients, documenting and reporting activities in accordance with established policies, and maintaining the security and confidentiality of medical records. The Medical Translator also prepares, maintains, reviews, and processes standard narrative, statistical, summary, and operational records, reports, and logs.

Requirements

High school diploma, GED certification, equivalent, or greater.
At least one year of directly related training and/or experience.
Strong conversational and written skills in Spanish and English, including medical terminology and interpreting and translating skills.
Successfully complete a facility bilingual assessment.
Valid driver's license.
Must be at least 18 years of age.

Responsibilities

Provide interpreting and translating services to Spanish- and English-speaking patients and staff throughout the facility.
Attend sick calls and other clinical appointments with medical providers to assist Spanish-speaking patients.
Document and report activities according to established policies and applicable witnessing forms signed by Spanish-speaking patients.
Maintain the security and confidentiality of all medical records.
Prepare and maintain standard narrative, statistical, summary, and operational records, reports, and logs using appropriate grammar.
File, alphabetize, and label documents; review reports and records produced on shifts; and process reports and documents in a timely manner.
Consistently meet the departmental work schedule.
