Provides post-program consultation on dropout prevention, parental support and involvement, and home and school academic interventions. This role involves providing safe and effective services, adhering to policies related to safety and boundaries, and attending required training. The specialist will provide direct help, follow-up support, and intervention to youth and families transitioning out of home care and returning home, focusing on dropout prevention, parental support, and academic interventions. They will also provide parent training in behavior management and developing functional skills for academic problems, child management, and personal/family adjustments. The role includes assessing needs, responding to problems, preparing documentation and service plans, establishing systems to promote pro-social youth behavior, supporting family members, monitoring progress, and reviewing service plans. Building on family competencies and maintaining appropriate contact are key. The specialist will act as a liaison between families and schools, developing effective working relationships with parents, school administrators, teachers, mentors, and social agency workers. They will also assist youth and families in utilizing spiritual and religious beliefs as a source of strength and promote a culture of professionalism. Developing and maintaining an effective data collection system, completing documentation, and preparing reports are also essential functions. Ensuring compliance with contractual, regulatory, program, and accrediting standards is required.
