About The Position

This professional position follows the Collective Bargaining Agreement Salary Schedule, starting at Bachelor's, Step 1 - $58,554 for the 26/27 SY. Schedule: Monday - Friday, 7.5 hours/day, 190 days/year. The job goal is to build, implement, and maintain a comprehensive transition program for transition aged students (14+) in Intermediate Unit programming and to provide career opportunities for students; assist with PDE requirements in grade levels collecting data and assist with transitioning students back to home districts from CAIU class placements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree required
  • Valid, active Pennsylvania Instructional II certification in special education.
  • Certification in a restraint management system as required by the assignment.
  • Experience working with students of transition age (13-21).
  • Experience working with transition related assessment, programming, and activities, including but not limited to post-secondary training, employment, and independent living.
  • Ability to design and support implementation of transition related programming.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong problem-solving and interpersonal skills.
  • Familiarity with Special Education rules and regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Design and support implementation of transition-related programming, including assessment, in-class curriculum and instruction, and out of class experiences.
  • Lead and assist educational teams in the development, maintenance, and implementation of transition services and activities.
  • Work with local businesses and agencies to enhance the CAIU transition program.
  • Participate as a member of educational and IEP teams, including attending meetings as necessary and appropriate.
  • Maintain a knowledge base of current theories and practices in the field by attending pertinent professional development/continuing education programs, networking with professional colleagues, and reading relevant professional literature; provide or participate in professional development on pertinent topics related to the program assigned.
  • Advise administrators and staff regarding best practices and regulations on transition.
  • Complete all required reports and records within established timelines as required by Federal and State regulations and adhere to CAIU policies and procedures.
  • Transport students when necessary and only when accompanied by another staff member.
  • Support the mission of the CAIU and its Comprehensive Plan.
  • Assume any other responsibilities as assigned by Supervisor or his/her designee.
