About The Position
The Nebraska Department of Transportation (NDOT) is seeking a Transit Procurement Coordinator for its Local Assistance Division. This role involves supporting public transit agencies across Nebraska to improve access to transportation services for residents. The position is integral to enhancing the Nebraska State Transit Program, focusing on the procurement of public transit equipment and services, including vehicle/equipment purchasing, specifications, contracts, and inspections. It also involves preparing and maintaining the NDOT Federal Asset Inventory, Compliance Reviews, Training, Safety Plans, and National Transit Database reporting, requiring an understanding of Federal and State policies.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in urban and regional planning, transportation planning, engineering technology, business, data science, physical sciences, geographic information systems, or a related field, plus three years of related experience.
- Experience may be substituted for education on a year-for-year basis.
- Demonstrated experience with MS Office, specifically Microsoft Excel.
- Knowledge of Federal and State Regulations.
- Knowledge of grant management.
- Ability to manage time and competing priorities.
- Ability to learn and apply the principles and concepts of specific agency programs, policies, and operating details to manage grant-funded programs.
- Effectively communicate to explain complex information to various audiences.
- Must have a valid driver’s license or the ability to provide independent authorized transportation.

- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, contract administration, or other appropriate curriculum, plus two years of significantly related work experience, or a combination of education and experience equivalent to the above requirements.
Responsibilities
- Assist with the procurement of Public Transit equipment and services.
- Writing, editing, and oversight of Transit Vehicle/Equipment purchasing, specifications, contracts, and inspections.
- Preparation and maintenance of the NDOT Federal Asset Inventory.
- Preparation and maintenance of Compliance Reviews.
- Preparation and maintenance of Training.
- Preparation and maintenance of Safety Plans.
- Preparation and maintenance of National Transit Database reporting.
