About The Position

Performs entry-level dispatching duties for the County’s Transportation Agency; operates a radio-telephone communication system; receives and transmits messages; dispatches transit personnel, materials, and/or equipment in response to service requests or emergencies; performs clerical tasks related to transit operations and performs other related duties as required.

Requirements

A combination of education and experience substantially equivalent to graduation from high school
Three and one half (3 ½) years of work experience which included one (1) or a combination of the following: public contact, customer service, clerical duties, radio telephone or telephone switchboard operation, or dispatching.

Responsibilities

Operates a radio-telephone communication system to receive and transmit messages for public transportation and paratransit services
Dispatches transit personnel, materials, and equipment in response to service requests and emergencies
Monitors and logs the status and location of transit vehicles and personnel
Assists in coordinating the scheduling of trip reservations for public transportation and paratransit services
Prepares and maintains basic records and reports on transit operations
Answers inquiries from the public and provides information or refers to the appropriate authority
Assists in maintaining various files and records related to transit operations, such as vehicle and equipment logs, work orders, and time and leave records
Prepares routine letters and documents
Conducts periodic physical inventory of supplies, materials, and equipment
Performs other related duties as required
