Key duties include performing "first call" transfers, adhering to chain-of-custody protocols, identifying deceased individuals, and cooperating with first responders, coroners, hospital staff, or senior living facility personnel. For home transfers, the specialist must interact courteously and sensitively with bereaved families, following company procedures for handling soiled materials and leaving a positive first impression. The role also requires entering deceased event information into proprietary software and transporting caskets. Vehicle maintenance, including washing, fueling, and identifying operational issues, is also a responsibility. The specialist must maintain personal protective equipment and transfer supplies in vehicles.
