About The Position

The Transfer Specialist is responsible for the care, removal, and transport of deceased individuals. This role involves collaborating with team members to ensure compliance with all processes and procedures. Key duties include safely operating company vehicles, maintaining vehicle cleanliness, and presenting a professional appearance when interacting with families. The position requires adherence to local and state laws, company policies, and safe handling procedures for deceased individuals and associated materials.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Current state/province issued driver’s license with an acceptable driving record
  • At least one (1) year work experience as a courier or driver
  • Ability to work schedule to support business needs including weekends and nights
  • Ability to work on-call weekends, nights and holidays rotation
  • Ability to lift up to 75 pounds regularly and up to 100 pounds occasionally; push/pull up to 200 pounds
  • Ability to drive in hazardous, heavy traffic, and weather conditions
  • Basic computer skills required

Responsibilities

  • Safely drive company-owned professional vehicles to perform "first call" transfer of deceased in accordance with local and state/provincial laws and company policies and procedures.
  • Follow processes for chain-of-custody, paperwork, and deceased identification.
  • Cooperate with first responders, Coroner, hospital staff, or Senior Living facility staff and accommodate their processes and procedures.
  • Professionally and courteously interact with bereaved family members during home transfers, exhibiting sensitivity and minimizing conversation.
  • Follow company procedures for transferring soiled garments, bedding, or other materials, leaving a warm and courteous first impression.
  • Enter deceased event information into proprietary software according to company procedures.
  • Transport caskets to airports, care centers, or funeral homes and assist with moving caskets.
  • Wash, vacuum, and clean vehicles to ensure they are presentable.
  • Fuel vehicles as necessary.
  • Follow safety guidelines and expenditure processes.
  • Maintain personal protective equipment and transfer supplies in vehicles, including cleaning products.
  • Identify and report vehicle engine or operating issues to management.
  • Drive vehicles for repair or inspection.
