About The Position

Delta Area Economic Opportunity Corporation, a Missouri Community Action Agency, is seeking a Head Start/Early Head Start (HS/EHS) Training & Technical Assistance (T/TA) Coordinator. The Head Start/Early Head Start (HS/EHS) Training & Technical Assistance (T/TA) Coordinator is responsible for assisting the Children Services Department (HS/EHS) staff in their career development paths, the development and implementation of training & coaching activities and security of resources in accordance with Program Performance Standards and Agency guidelines. The T/TA Coordinator will report to the Training and Technical Assistance Specialist.

Requirements

  • Associates Degree in Education, Social Sciences, Human Development, Counseling or related field
  • Minimum 2 years of related experience in education, corporate training and/or curriculum development

Responsibilities

  • Implements a program-wide systematic approach to training and professional development for department staff that includes opportunities for both internal and external resources.
  • Coordinates with Specialist to develop and implement annual training calendar for pre-service and in-service, as well as training identified on T/TA plan.
  • Develops and maintains a video library to be used for new staff orientation, individual & small group training and coaching. Collaborates with service areas for content and use of in-house video creation or outside video sources for training and coaching needs. May use video library in new staff orientation/coaching.
  • Provides coaching/mentoring and on-site training for all new Head Start/Early Head Start staff, including orientation and guidance related to Head Start goals and program expectations.
  • Begins staff orientation process through phone/email/in person and follows up with new hires at assigned work locations to complete process within introductory period. Will work onsite at HS/EHS locations.
  • Collaborates with Human Resources Department to maintain professional development training and credential data.
  • Reviews, revises and contributes to program service plans annually.
  • Ensures confidentiality in all aspects of the program is maintained as directed and necessary.
  • Assures compliance with the Head Start Performance Standards in the area of staff credentials and training.
  • Participates in the annual program self-assessment and is responsible for implementing changes based upon the results.
  • Maintains filing, tracking and documentation systems for position duties.
  • Provides technical assistance, coaching, and/or mentoring to Head Start/Early Head Start staff as appropriate.
  • Will communicate expectations, progress, and recommendations to center staff and center director about new staff orientation progress, strengths and challenges, and provide follow-up.
  • Determines appropriate training needs to meet the program goals and objectives and makes the necessary recommendations to Program Director.
  • Coordinates with the Head Start Leadership Team to plan and implement pre-service and ongoing/in-service for HS/EHS- Children Services Department staff.
  • Develops, conducts or arranges training as needed.
  • Attends workshops and meetings as deemed necessary by the immediate supervisor.
  • Attends staff & parent meetings and activities as deemed necessary by the immediate supervisor.
  • Responsible for understanding Head Start Performance Standards and local child care licensing regulations.
  • Knowledgeable of the regulations associated with prevention of occupational disease and injury, including the exercise of universal precautions and the prevention of contamination.
  • Positively promotes Head Start/Early Head Start in the community.
  • Models and exercises prudent behavior to support other employees in the execution of work duties in a manner consistent with DAEOC standards for compliance with all applicable laws, rules and regulations, including DAEOC policies and procedures reflecting best practices. In addition, is expected to model exemplary standards of ethical behavior and exercise careful stewardship of program funds, and support other employees in adhering to those standards.
  • Becomes thoroughly familiar with DAEOC Employee Handbook; Human Resources Policies and Procedures; and all other DAEOC agency and program handbooks, manuals and resources and adheres to them.
