About The Position

As the lead Training Officer for the MVD In-Office training program in their region, this position is responsible for developing and providing training, coaching, constructive guidance and technical support to the On-the-Job Trainer (OJT) in the field offices and is the initial point of contact to answer any questions for the OJT staff. Depending on business needs, up to 50% of this job may be remote. In-state travel is required and may include overnight stays for weeks at a time. This position may offer the ability to work remotely, within Arizona, based upon the department's business needs and continual meeting of expected performance measures. All work, including remote work, should be performed within Arizona unless an exception is properly authorized in advance.

Requirements

  • Principles of employee training, the nature of the learning process, trends in employee training and training strategies and methods.
  • Administrative and management theory and practices.
  • Strong knowledge of the different methodologies used to deliver training (i.e., Go To Meetings, Web Ex, Video Teleconferencing, Classroom, etc.).
  • Strong knowledge of the MAX System
  • Strong analytical, oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong customer service, team building, training and facilitating skills.
  • Strong data entry and retrieval, data research and problem resolution skills.
  • Classroom presentation skills, problem resolution.
  • Proficient in Google Workspace.
  • Multi-task and do complex analytic work.
  • Communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
  • Successfully initiate and maintain complex and difficult relations with employees and customers.
  • Self-motivate.
  • Understand the concept of the learners capabilities, achievements, strengths, weakness, background and interests of the learner and to evaluate the effects of their training.
  • Highly innovative and creative in developing and delivering training materials that effectively communicates the information to students in an engaging way.
  • Conduct the entire curriculum in the amount of time allotted for the training.
  • Develop training materials.
  • Valid Driver's License

  • Must successfully complete the Electronic Employment Eligibility Verification Program (E-Verify).

Nice To Haves

  • 3+ years of experience with the MAX system.
  • Three to five years of experience in adult learning development.
  • Bachelor's degree in education, adult education or related field from an accredited college or university and three years of experience in the training field.

Responsibilities

  • Travels around to various MVD offices to provide coaching, training and technical support to OJT trainers through one-on-one coaching sessions, regular training meeting, and OJT train-the-trainer sessions.
  • Oversee OJT staff to ensure trainers are utilizing the most current training methods and materials.
  • Provide guidance as needed and participate in regional huddles, business review meetings, problem solving review and innovation meetings.
  • Assess the effectiveness of the training program and partner with Division management to identify and implement ways to improve overall training.
  • Communicate changes in training to the OJT staff.
  • Facilitate training for new employees based on the agency's requirements and needs.
  • In partnership with MVD Training Academy, Learning & Development Center (LDC) and Leadership & Professional Development (LPD) creates standardized training, validates training material and solidifies delivery method(s).
  • Creates stand-alone training sessions for monthly in-service and conducts training classes as needed.
