YOU As a Technical Training Manager, you will be responsible for leading training and outreach efforts for the Southeast U.S. branch, including managing a talented team of training coordinators, developing initiatives and training programs that align with branch objectives, and delivering high quality training to internal and external customers. Overnight travel is required for workshops, ride-alongs, meetings, and conferences.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.A./B.S.) from a four-year college or university required.
  • 5+ years related experience in training required.
  • Understanding of the construction industry and Simpson Strong-Tie product lines.
  • Strong working knowledge of adult learning principles, instructional design, and modern corporate training practices.
  • Speaking: Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
  • Prioritization: Ability to readjust priorities to respond to pressing and changing client demands. Ability to display a high level of initiative, effort, and commitment towards completing assignments in a timely manner.
  • Self-management: Set priorities, goals and timelines to achieve maximum productivity. Manage multiple projects and competing priorities. Display a high level of initiative, effort, and commitment towards completing assignments in a timely manner.
  • Communication: Excellent communication skills; written and verbal, proof reading, professional phone demeanor. Nice To Haves

  • Experience in construction sales industry preferred.
  • Experience with Bluebeam, Simpson Strong-Tie software, SAP, and Smartsheet a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Develop annual plan for the branch’s training department, setting clear priorities and standards that align with branch and company objectives. Create, implement, and refine a scalable training framework for sales, customer-facing, sales support, and operations stakeholders. Develop and deploy tangible metrics to ensure learning and knowledge transfer. (40%)
  • Lead, motivate, and direct employees using effective performance management techniques, including establishing expectations and goals, providing recognition and feedback, and addressing performance problems. Coach, encourage, and develop employees according to their unique interests and strengths. Empower employees to take responsibility for their career and performance. Delegate responsibility and expect accountability and regular feedback. (30%)
  • Act as the training SME to set expectations for how training is designed, delivered, and evaluated, ensuring consistency, technical accuracy, and alignment with Simpson Strong-Tie best practices. Review, refine, and approve training content and delivery methods for internal and external curriculum programs to ensure the quality, relevancy, and timeliness of each. (20%)
  • Work with other branch training departments to share resources and collaborate on larger training projects. (5%)
  • Special projects and other duties as assigned. (5%)
