About The Position

The Training & Development Specialist supports the effectiveness of the workforce across the Human Resources function and Winnebago Comprehensive Healthcare System (WCHS) by designing, developing, and coordinating inclusive training and development programs across all departments and levels of the organization. Reporting through Human Resources, this position provides structured support for onboarding, training delivery, and workforce development initiatives, ensuring consistent, accessible, and effective learning opportunities for employees. The role maintains training documentation, manages registration and logistics, coordinates with internal stakeholders and external partners, and supports competency-based training and evaluation processes. This position plays a key role in advancing employee growth, organizational performance, and a culture of continuous learning aligned with WCHS mission, vision, and values.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience, OR 4+ years of internal company experience demonstrating relevant skills and competencies.
  • 3 + years of experience in training, education, human resources, or equivalent transferable experience (e.g., healthcare, operations, customer service, organizational development, hospitality, or workforce programs).
  • Demonstrated ability to facilitate training and present information effectively to diverse audiences.
  • Ability to plan, coordinate, and manage training programs, schedules, and logistics across multiple departments.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills, with the ability to collaborate across all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality, exercise sound judgment, and work independently while contributing to a team environment.
  • Demonstrated organization, attention to detail, problem-solving, and follow-through skills in a fast-paced setting.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and ability to learn training platforms, systems, and tracking tools.
  • Reliable attendance and flexibility to work occasional evenings or weekends as needed.
  • Ability to successfully complete required pre-employment screenings.
  • Valid U.S. Driver’s License and ability to maintain insurability under the Winnebago Tribe of Nebraska insurance program.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently.
  • Ability to consistently and effectively communicate professionally in both verbal and written formats.
  • Normal to light office work, including the ability to lift up to 10 pounds.
  • Regularly required to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods of time.
  • Regular use of hands and fingers to operate a computer, phone, and office equipment.
  • Ability to read, write, and perform basic calculations.
  • Strong communication, facilitation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to think critically, analyze training needs, and make sound decisions aligned with organizational goals.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate WCHS mission, vision, and values while promoting a culture of inclusivity, respect, and continuous learning.
  • Design, develop, coordinate, and deliver training and development programs across all departments and levels of WCHS, including onboarding, compliance training, and competency-based education.
  • Develop, update, and maintain training materials, presentations, and course content to meet organizational and workforce needs.
  • Facilitate training sessions, orientations, competency testing, and workgroups to support employee development and organizational effectiveness.
  • Assess training effectiveness and recommend improvements based on feedback, outcomes, and identified workforce needs.
  • Maintain accurate training records, including registration, attendance, completion, and competency documentation.
  • Manage the master training calendar and coordinate logistics, including scheduling, space, equipment, materials, and purchasing supplies and food as needed.
  • Communicate training opportunities, schedules, and requirements to employees, leadership, and stakeholders across the organization.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of organizational operations, business practices, and workforce needs to ensure training programs align with WCHS strategic priorities.
  • Collaborate with internal departments and external partners to enhance training programs and expand development opportunities.
  • Maintain confidentiality, professionalism, and integrity in all interactions and handling of sensitive information.
  • Foster collaborative, respectful relationships and contribute to a positive, team-oriented work environment.
  • Communicate effectively and professionally with employees at all levels of the organization.
  • Demonstrate flexibility, adaptability, and a commitment to continuous improvement in training programs and processes.
  • Identify opportunities to improve managerial, administrative, and workforce development processes through training and education.
