About The Position

Nationwide's Property and Casualty team is seeking a passionate Training Consultant to join their Personal Lines field sales organization. This role focuses on designing, delivering, and improving internal training programs to enhance the execution of Personal Lines field sales strategies and processes. The ideal candidate will collaborate with territory and sales leaders, as well as internal business partners, to identify learning needs and develop targeted curricula. Support for external trainers may also be required. This position can be filled remotely or in an office, with work hours aligning to Eastern or Central time zones. Occasional travel is expected. Requirements

  • P&C Insurance experience.
  • Recent, hands-on field sales experience (within the last three years), preferably working directly with independent agencies and/or territory sales teams.
  • Ability to translate field experience into clear, actionable learning experiences that drive adoption, confidence, and measurable performance improvement.
  • Undergraduate degree desired.
  • Typically requires 10 or more years of experience in area of technical expertise.
  • Subject matter authority related to training area of responsibility with broad technical knowledge beyond area of expertise.
  • Exceptional understanding of adult education concepts, learning styles, evaluation methods, and process/workflow development.
  • Strong instructional design and eye for business.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Proven track record to explain sophisticated technical concepts and to analyze program results and recommend solutions.
  • Strong group dynamics and interactive skills.
  • Strong project management and consulting skills.
  • Ability to set priorities, manage time, prioritize work, and meet deadlines.

Nice To Haves

  • Progress toward advanced degree in a related field.
  • Certification in recognized field of expertise (CPCU, AIC, API, AU, etc.) desired.
  • Additional experience in project leadership, supervisory or adult learning desired.
  • Progress towards learning certificate such as CPLP desired.

Responsibilities

  • Designs, delivers, and continuously improves internal training for the Personal Lines field sales organization.
  • Collaborates with territory leaders, sales leaders, and internal business partners to assess learning needs.
  • Builds targeted curricula and facilitates ongoing enablement.
  • Strengthens execution of Personal Lines field sales strategies and processes.
  • Provides support to external trainers when needed.
  • Conducts advanced-level technical training classes and programs.
  • Acts as a resource or subject matter expert for trainers and specialists in training program design.
  • Researches standard methodologies in advanced technical areas to incorporate into class discussions or adjust presentation materials.
  • May provide basic needs analysis and process improvement consulting for assigned business units.
  • Serves as a liaison to various Nationwide task forces based on subject matter expertise and projects.
  • Schedules training courses and enrolls associates.
  • Serves as a back-up to other instructors.
  • Provides continuous evaluation of responses and feedback relative to program development, administration, and logistics.
  • Reviews course content and makes recommendations for improvements, modifications, or continuation.
  • May perform other responsibilities as assigned.
