About The Position

The Training and Development Specialist develops, implements and evaluates employee development plans and programs to support organizational needs as a generalist or in a combination of Disciplines such as management development, talent management, succession planning, technical or nontechnical training, or e-learning. Monitors employee development and training programs, assesses needs and results, develops new programs and modifies existing programs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Training and Development, Organizational Development, Engineering, or a related field and/or relevant experience required.
  • At least three years of training experience required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong presentation skills.
  • Adept with a variety of multimedia training platforms and methods.
  • Ability to evaluate and research training options and alternatives.
  • Ability to design and implement effective training and development.
  • Extremely proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and related program software.
  • Skills necessary to operate computer hardware/software for the purpose of generating or retrieving information required in the performance of job responsibilities (including Microsoft Office, Excel, Power Point and Outlook).
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret financial reports.
  • Ability to respond to common inquiries and complaints from regulatory agencies, members of the business community, and employees.
  • Ability to effectively present information to top management.

Responsibilities

  • Sets the example for excellence in training practices and designs/administers systems to ensure trainers are sufficiently trained and perform to expectations.
  • Assesses the organizations training and development needs through surveys, interviews, focus groups, and communication with managers, and instructors.
  • Creates, organizes, plans, and presents various forms of onboarding, orientation, and skills training for employees.
  • Develops unique training programs to fulfill workers’ specific needs to maintain or improve job skills.
  • Work with Managers to ensure employees are given the tools and resources necessary to learn and perform line of progression jobs.
  • Assists with reviewing, updating and creating current best practices to aid the training and development process.
  • Performs audits of on-the-job training, monitors, and documents employee progress.
  • Works with Manpower scheduler to schedule shopfloor employees for training.
  • Creates and/or acquires training procedure manuals, guides, and course materials.
  • Presents training and development programs using various forms and formats including group discussion, lecture, simulations, and videos.
  • Maintains records of training and development activities, attendance, results of tests and assessments, and retraining requirements.
  • Assesses training materials prepared by instructors.
  • Evaluates and documents program effectiveness through assessments, surveys, and feedback.
  • Maintains Learning Management System.
  • Maintains knowledge of the latest trends in training and development.
  • Acts as management representative for IAFT audits as it relates to training and development.
  • Assists department managers with preparing and implementing training budgets for their departments.
  • This position has direct labor training responsibility across all three (3) shifts.
  • Performs other related duties as required.
