About The Position

Veterans Inc. is seeking a motivated and organized individual to join their team as a Training and Development Specialist. This role is crucial in ensuring employees have the necessary knowledge, skills, and competencies to support the mission and strategic objectives of Veterans Inc. The specialist will be responsible for assessing training needs, designing and implementing training programs, managing learning management systems, and coordinating training opportunities. This position requires a Bachelor's degree and at least two years of experience in training coordination, policy design, human resources, or a related field, preferably within a non-profit environment. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential, along with knowledge of community resources.

Requirements

  • Minimum of Bachelor's degree in Human Services, Human Resources, Education, Business Administration, or related field required.
  • Minimum of two (2) years' experience in training coordination, policy design and implementation, human resources, or related role or equivalent military experience.
  • Minimum of two (2) years' experience working in a non-profit environment, preferably in an administrative capacity.
  • Outstanding communication skills and strong interpersonal skills, including techniques for positive motivation, handling difficult people, and teamwork.
  • Knowledge of assigned community and the resources available to those in need of services.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with organizational training needs assessments in collaboration with Directors, Division Managers, Program Managers, Regional Managers, and other organizational leaders to identify workforce skill gaps and learning priorities.
  • Assists with designing and implementing training programs and materials tailored to individual needs of programs including scope of services, grant compliance, and best practices.
  • Creates and updates training schedules and assists with onboarding of new staff.
  • Assists Director or Regional/Division managers with development, implementation, and tracking of performance improvement training and support.
  • Assist with designing, developing and continuously updating curricula, instructional materials, and learning resources that support organizational goals and evolving grant, regulatory, accreditation, and operational requirements.
  • Maintain and administer the organization's learning management processes, including employee training records, required certifications, continuing education requirements, and compliance with mandatory funding imposed and agency requirements.
  • Maintain a comprehensive catalog of approved training resources, instructional materials, and continuing education opportunities relevant to the diverse roles throughout the organization.
  • Coordinate internal and external training opportunities, including scheduling instructors, securing training approvals, and managing employee participation in required and elective professional development activities.
  • Assist with onboarding activities including standardized onboarding, role-specific, leadership, compliance, and continuing education training programs.
  • Assist in delivery of instructor-led, virtual, and blended learning programs as appropriate while utilizing the adult learning model and evidence-based instructional practices.
  • Organize and maintain most recent policies, procedures, instructional guides, and documentation related to organizational training and development initiatives.
  • Prepare reports and maintain documentation related to training completion, compliance, continuing education, and organizational learning metrics.
  • Create and maintain thorough assessments, participant feedback, performance metrics, and organizational outcomes, recommending modifications to improve learning effectiveness.
  • Participate in organizational committees, meetings, strategic planning initiatives, and special projects related to workforce development and organizational effectiveness.
  • Other duties as assigned related to the overall mission of Veterans Inc.
