About The Position

The Trainer, under the guidance of the Manager, Training, will instruct Aircraft Maintenance related subjects and collaborate with internal customers to source and/or design effective training programs. Subject topics may vary from skill-based requirements across various departments (ie. Aircraft and Component-level Maintenance (Production), Materials, Engineering).

Requirements

  • 5-10 years’ experience performing maintenance on a variety of aircraft as an Aircraft Mechanic
  • Comfortable teaching in a classroom environment, while demonstrating excellent communication skills (eg, online, classroom, OJT)
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office programs, particularly PowerPoint and Excel for the preparation of course material
  • Proven leadership skills, both in classroom and leading projects
  • Proven ability to deliver constructive feedback while providing support for improvement
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Must be eligible to meet requirements for Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP), Secret Level II Security Clearance through PSPC- Contract Security Program, and Transport Canada RAIC clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • experience on either CH149 Cormorant or C130 Hercules aircraft

Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver training using a variety of instructional techniques, training aids and hands-on practical exercises on a variety of topics primarily related to aircraft, aircraft maintenance, component maintenance and possibly other related skills such as Aerial Platform use, First Aid, etc.
  • Work collaboratively with the Learning and Development team and internal customers to design and/or source training solutions.
  • Liaise with internal and external subject matter experts in the preparation of course material.
  • Prepare on the job (OJT) training programs for delivery.
  • Prepare testing and examinations associated with theoretical and practical aircraft instruction.
  • Coach and mentor SMEs and junior team members in training delivery skills.
  • Maintain records and generate reports within Learning Management Systems.
  • Provide coaching and mentoring to Apprentices as required.
  • Perform other duties as required.
