About The Position

This Trails Utility Worker II is a full-time, benefited opportunity that will support trail maintenance operations throughout the City of Denver. While this position will perform a wide variety of general park maintenance duties, this individual will also perform lead work over less experienced workers and may also support additional parks operations special projects or events. This position is an opportunity for a proven, high-performing park professional to take the next step in their career. The City and County of Denver offers a competitive salary commensurate with education and experience. The starting pay range for this position is between $22.53– $28.17/hour based on experience and education.

Requirements

  • One (1) year of experience performing unskilled labor work
  • Requires a valid Driver's License at the time of application.
  • Licenses and certifications must be kept current as a condition of employment

  • Proficiency with various hand-powered tools and motorized equipment
  • Experience with and willingness to apply chemicals

Responsibilities

  • Work outdoors on regional trails and in parks using and maintaining various hand-powered tools and motorized equipment in a safe and efficient manner and demonstrating proper use as needed
  • Support park operations special projects or events, such as small to large permitted parks events or other special, renovation projects, etc.
  • Perform landscape maintenance duties such as: Turf maintenance (e.g. laying sod, fertilizing, mowing, edging, raking) Ornamental/garden maintenance (planting, weeding, minor pruning)
  • Perform infrastructure maintenance and repair such as fencing, asphalt, concrete, trails work, grade work/erosion control
  • Exercise leadership skills over less experienced parks workers and serve as an example of proper work skills including training and supporting the development of workers
  • Work collaboratively and build strong working relationships with park maintenance generalists and/or specialists such as Irrigation Maintenance Technicians, Horticultural Workers, Park Horticulturists, and other experts in unique green industry fields and skilled trades work
  • Perform flood clean-up and snow removal operations such as plowing, shoveling, and de-icing
  • Perform various related duties as needed such as trash collection, vandalism repair/graffiti removal, trail sweeping and general maintenance of park amenities
