Trailer Technician
About The Position
Amerit Fleet Solutions is hiring a Trailer Technician/Mechanic in Chester, Virginia. The role focuses on maintaining and repairing trailers, troubleshooting mechanical and electrical issues, and supporting reliable fleet operations. The schedule is Sunday through Thursday, 1:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., with weekly pay of $30.00–$32.00 per hour based on experience. The position may be performed in a mobile, outside, and/or shop environment, with exposure to dust, diesel fumes, noise, oils, greases, and other mechanical materials. The work involves frequent standing, walking, climbing, bending, and sitting; lifting heavy objects; accessing tight or confined spaces; operating tools and equipment; and potentially working at heights or in various weather conditions. Requirements
- At least 2 years of hands-on experience performing Class 7–8 trailer maintenance and repairs.
- Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Ability to own and maintain the personal tools and toolbox required for the role.
- Ability to work effectively independently and as part of a team.
- Willingness and ability to meet the physical demands of the position.
- Must be eligible to pass standard pre-employment screenings, including a drug screen and DOT physical if required.
- Ability to see and hear sufficiently to safely navigate the workspace.
Responsibilities
- Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on trailers.
- Diagnose mechanical and electrical issues.
- Conduct inspections to ensure vehicles meet safety and compliance standards.
- Accurately document repairs and complete work orders.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, including tools and equipment.
- Follow safety procedures and company policies.
- Collaborate with supervisors and team members to support fleet operations.
