About The Position
TCI Maintenance is hiring an experienced Trailer Mechanic to diagnose, adjust, repair, and rebuild trailer equipment. The role covers structural and body repairs, mechanical components, electrical systems, brakes, and suspension. The mechanic will help keep trailers road-ready, support the team, and continue developing skills through online learning and hands-on training. The position is in Kansas City, Kansas, with a Monday-through-Friday day shift. Pay is $26.51–$30.00 per hour, depending on experience. The mechanic must be available to participate in an on-call rotation.
Requirements
- At least 3 years of practical tractor-trailer maintenance experience.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Specialized training and experience diagnosing and troubleshooting heavy-duty trailer systems.
- Proficiency with welding equipment, diagnostic equipment, hand tools, and power tools.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to meet company insurability requirements.
- Self-motivation and leadership skills.
- Availability to participate in an on-call rotation.
- Positive attitude and willingness to develop skills through self-managed online learning and hands-on training.
Nice To Haves
- Class A CDL with air brake certification; candidates without a CDL must be willing to obtain one.
- Vocational or technical training or certification.
- Basic computer skills for entering information into maintenance systems.
Responsibilities
- Diagnose, adjust, repair, and rebuild trailer equipment.

- Diagnose and repair or rebuild mechanical components.
- Troubleshoot and repair electrical systems.
- Diagnose and repair trailer brake components.
- Identify suspension problems and perform necessary repairs.
- Participate in an on-call rotation.
- Enter information into maintenance systems, if applicable.
