About The Position

R+L Carriers is hiring a full-time Trailer Mechanic at its Maybrook, New York Service Center. The role is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining trailers. The hourly pay range is $31.92–$40.27. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 4:00 p.m. to 2:30 a.m. A $2,500 sign-on bonus is paid in two installments: $1,250 after 90 calendar days of employment and $1,250 after 180 calendar days. Available paid time off may be used immediately upon hire.

Requirements

• Experience performing equipment safety inspections and preparing required safety documents.
• Ability to interpret technical manuals.
• Experience repairing or replacing defective parts, components, or systems.
• Experience testing equipment for proper performance and compliance with manufacturer specifications and regulations.
• Experience with trailer preventive maintenance and repairs.
• Ability to lift 50 pounds.
• Must own personal tools.
• Must be dependable.
• Must be prepared to work in climate-controlled or other climate conditions when needed.

Nice To Haves

• Experience using the Cetaris Maintenance Work Order System.
• Welding experience.
• Experience driving yard tractors and trailers.
• Previous experience working on Class 8 commercial vehicles.
• Sheet metal and composite panel repair experience.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, repair, and perform overall maintenance on trailers.
• Perform safety inspections of equipment and prepare safety documents required by FMCSA, the company, and applicable regulations.
• Repair or replace defective parts, components, or systems.
• Test equipment to verify proper performance and ensure work meets manufacturer specifications and applicable regulations.
• Perform trailer preventive maintenance and repairs.
