About The Position

The Truck Preventive Maintenance Technician will work cross-functionally across multiple areas of the garage. Responsibilities include performing routine preventive maintenance repairs on trucks, and addressing emergency mechanical or electrical failures. The role requires the ability to diagnose and repair truck engines and systems using diagnostic programs, and perform minor structural welding and cutting tasks. The technician must safely apply knowledge and troubleshooting skills to all assigned equipment and effectively communicate with transportation personnel, including managers, drivers, and clerks. Reading and interpreting instructions, manuals, and schematics, along with basic math skills, are necessary. Basic computer skills are required for documenting information, processing daily work orders, and completing required documentation. The Truck Tech may be required to perform service calls on equipment at remote locations, and a current valid driver’s license is required.

Requirements

  • 3 months experience preferred, but not required for ME01 (Trainee)
  • Must advance to ME02 within 12 months of hire date
  • Show proficiency on standard preventive maintenance (PM1’s, PM2’s for trucks or trailers depending on mechanic classification)
  • Brake Inspector Certification
  • Wheel end class/certification
  • Basic Electrical
  • Identify fault codes
  • Must be able to read and interpret instructions, manuals, and schematics
  • Basic math skills are necessary
  • Basic computer skills will be necessary
  • Must be able to perform the physical requirements of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation
  • Must pass MVR check
  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Must have a valid driver’s license
  • Must not have any DUI/DWI convictions within the last 12 months
  • Must have 3 months of employment in the last 6 months with a single company
  • Prior Tyson Team members are eligible for rehire after completing a 180-day waiting period
  • Prior Tyson Team members cannot have worked 3 times or more for Tyson Foods

Nice To Haves

  • Team member will be required to show proficiency with all tasks before advancement
  • Proficiency will be graded by completing the preventive maintenance process and then work reviewed by Shop Manager, Shop Supervisor, Lead, and two senior technicians
  • Shop Manager/Supervisor will give official sign off
