About The Position

This position is for a DST Trailer Mechanic Trainee on the D shift at the Russellville LH Garage. The role involves working cross-functionally across multiple areas of the garage, performing routine preventive maintenance and repairs on trucks, and addressing mechanical or electrical failures. The trainee will learn to diagnose and repair truck engines and systems using diagnostic programs, perform minor structural welding and cutting, and apply troubleshooting skills to assigned equipment. Effective communication with transportation personnel, including managers, drivers, and clerks, is essential. The role also requires the ability to read and interpret instructions, manuals, and schematics, along with basic math and computer skills for documentation and work order processing. Service calls on equipment at remote locations may be required, necessitating a current valid driver's license.

Requirements

Must be 18 years of age or older.
Must have a valid driver's license.
Must not have any DUI/DWI convictions within the last 12 months.
Must pass MVR check.
Must be able to read and interpret instructions, manuals, and schematics.
Basic math skills are necessary.
Basic computer skills will be necessary.
Upon hire, team member will be required to advance to ME02 within 12 months of hire date.
Show proficiency on standard preventive maintenance (PM1’s, PM2’s for trucks or trailers depending on mechanic classification).
Brake Inspector Certification
Wheel end class/certification
Basic Electrical
Identify fault codes

3 months experience preferred, but not required.

Responsibilities

Performing routine preventive maintenance repairs on trucks.
Performing emergency mechanical or electrical failures.
Diagnosing and repairing truck engines and systems with diagnostic programs.
