About The Position

R+L Carriers is hiring a Trailer Mechanic at its Colonial Heights, Virginia Service Center. The role involves diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining trailers. It is a full-time, Monday–Friday first-shift position, with hours from 9:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. The listed pay range is $26.45–$37.60 per hour.

Requirements

• Experience performing equipment safety inspections and preparing required safety documentation.
• Ability to interpret technical manuals.
• Experience repairing or replacing defective parts, components, or systems.
• Experience testing equipment for proper performance and compliance with manufacturer specifications and regulations.
• Experience with trailer preventive maintenance and repairs.
• Ability to lift 50 pounds.
• Must own personal tools.
• Must be dependable.
• Must be prepared to work in climate conditions when needed.

Nice To Haves

• Experience using the Cetaris Maintenance Work Order System.
• Welding experience.
• Experience driving yard tractors or trailers.
• Previous experience working on Class 8 commercial vehicles.
• Sheet metal and composite panel repair experience.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, repair, and maintain trailers.
• Perform safety inspections of equipment and prepare safety documents required by FMCSA, the company, and applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
• Repair or replace defective parts, components, or systems.
• Test equipment to verify proper performance and confirm work meets manufacturer specifications and applicable regulations.
• Perform trailer preventive maintenance and repairs.
