Trailer Mechanic Trainee/Intern (Russellville L.H. Garage)
About The Position
This position is part-time and is only available for candidates who are currently enrolled in a Diesel Technology program. The Trailer Preventive Maintenance Technician will work cross-functionally across multiple areas of the garage. Responsibilities include performing routine preventive maintenance repairs on trailers and performing emergency mechanical or electrical failures. The role requires the ability to diagnose and repair brake and wheel end failures on trailers, and perform minor structural welding and cutting tasks. The candidate must be able to safely apply knowledge and troubleshooting skills to all assigned equipment and communicate effectively with transportation personnel, including managers, drivers, and clerks. Basic math and computer skills are necessary for tasks such as reading instructions, manuals, schematics, documenting information, processing work orders, and completing required documentation. Trailer technicians may be required to perform service calls at remote locations, and a current valid driver’s license is required.
Requirements
- Currently enrolled in a Diesel Technology program
- Tools Required (See Attached)
- 3 months of continuous work history with a single employer in the last 6 months
- High School Diploma or GED
- Ability to meet ME02 requirements by the end of the internship: proficiency on standard preventive maintenance (PM1s, PM2s for trucks or trailers), Brake Inspector Certification, Wheel end class/certification, Basic Electrical, Identify fault codes
- Current valid driver’s license
- Prior Tyson team members must not have worked 3 times or more for Tyson to be considered
- Prior Tyson team members are eligible for rehire after completing a 180-day waiting period
- Willing and able to perform the physical requirements of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation

Responsibilities
