About The Position

DST Truck Mechanic Trainee (Sioux City, Iowa L.H. Garage) Responsibilities: Truck preventive maintenance technicians will work cross-functionally across multiple areas of the garage, responsibilities include but are not limited to performing routine preventive maintenance repairs on trucks, performing mechanical or electrical failures. Ability to diagnose and repair our truck engine and systems with our diagnostic programs. Abilities to perform minor structural welding and cutting tasks. Ability to safely apply knowledge and troubleshooting skills to all assigned equipment and the ability to effectively communicate with all transportation personnel including managers, drivers, and clerks. Must be able to read and interpret instructions, manuals, and schematics. Along with basic math skills is necessary to perform these tasks at a satisfactory level. Basic computer skills will be necessary to document information, process daily work orders, and complete required documentation. Truck tech may be required to perform service calls on equipment at remote locations; a current valid driver’s license is required. Upon hire, team members will be required to advance to ME02 within 12 months of hire date. (If not obtained then team members will be considered unable to meet job requirements) Show proficiency in standard preventive maintenance (PM1’s, PM2’s for trucks or trailers depending on mechanic classification) Brake Inspector Certification Wheel end class/Certification Basic Electrical Identify fault codes Team members will be required to show proficiency with all tasks above before advancement. This will be graded by completing the preventive maintenance process and then work reviewed by Shop Manager, Shop Supervisor, Lead, and two senior technicians) Shop Manager/Supervisor will give official sign off. Must be able and willing to provide their own tools by the end of 90-day probation period

Requirements

  • Must have 3 months of employment in the last 6 months with a single company
  • Prior Tyson Team members are eligible for rehire after completing a 180-day waiting period
  • Prior Tyson Team members cannot have worked 3 times or more for Tyson Foods
  • Must pass MVR check
  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Must have a valid driver’s license
  • Must not have any DUI/DWI convictions within the last 12 months
  • Willing and able to meet the physical requirements of the job with or without reasonable accommodation
